Welcome Team
-
What Does It Involve: Create an atmosphere of welcome and belonging by cheerfully greeting each person as they come through the doors on a Sunday morning.
Expectations: Generally scheduled approximately one Sunday a month with an arrival time of 9:30 am. Aim to get to know the people of the church and learn their names as they come in to help them know they are noticed and loved. Try to notice any new people coming in, introduce yourself and offer to help them find where to go, helping them feel comfortable. (i.e. if they have kids to register, where the washrooms and sanctuary are etc.)

What Does It Involve: Ushering helps create an atmosphere of love, hospitality and kindness for all Sunday attendees. It also aids worshippers in engaging with God with minimum distractions. Ushers will seat people, assist with offerings or any special handouts, and stay alert to ways that people can be ministered to prior to and throughout the service. After the service, ushers will continue in a spirit of hospitality, while helping with basic tidying up.
Expectations: Arrive for pre-service prayer (930-945ish a.m.) and an explanation of the order of service. If one’s ushering duties require some pre-planning, an usher may want to come earlier. Greet people as they enter the sanctuary and hand out bulletins. Help with offering, monitor temperature and assist in seating (especially as the sanctuary fills up). Ushers should wear appropriate clothing and avoid strong perfumes or other strong odours. Ushers should also be alert to things that aren’t working (sound in the Kid’s Corner) and communicate with relevant staff/volunteers.
